In the semifinals, Daria scored a Waza-Ari victory over the Olympic Rio 2016 champion Paula Pareto (Argentina). In the final, she defeated the reigning world champion Fun Tonaki (Japan) in the third minute of the fight with an Ippon, becoming world champion at the age of 17 years and 11 months.
