Place of birth. Education. Born in the village of Okhinky, Priluki district of Chernihiv region. After school, he studied at the district pedagogical college. In 1977 he graduated from the historical faculty of Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko, and in 1998 he graduated from the law faculty with a specialization in legal studies.

Career. In 1976-1977, the future politician tried teaching in an eight-year school in the village of Kalynivka in the Cherkasy region, and then moved to Komsomol-party work, where he spent almost ten years. From 1986 to 1992, Bondarenko held the positions of deputy, first deputy, and chairman of the executive committee of the Leningrad district of Kyiv. Then - work in the capital's city hall: head of department, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA). In 1993, he voluntarily left the capital's administration due to disagreement with the position of his boss, Mayor Leonid Kosakowski.

Then he worked in the company Kyivnefteproduct, leading the deputy group Vybor in the Kyiv City Council. In 1996, Bondarenko served as the Deputy Minister of Justice, head of the department of the Ministry of Justice. In the same year, he became a people's deputy of Ukraine for the first time, after which he received the parliamentary mandate four more times - in 1998, 2002, 2007, and 2012. He entered the factions of the parties "Reforms and Order" (the party leader is Viktor Pinzenik) and "Our Ukraine" (as part of the PRP group). He worked in parliamentary committees on industrial and entrepreneurial issues, as well as on state construction and local self-government issues.

During the parliamentary elections of 2002 and the presidential elections of 2004, he headed the Kyiv city headquarters of the "Our Ukraine" bloc and the opposition candidate Viktor Yushchenko. He actively participated in the Orange Revolution.

In the early parliamentary elections of 2007, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada under No. 100 of Yulia Tymoshenko's Bloc. Chairman of the subcommittee on tracking the impact of bills on budget indicators of the budget committee.

From December 2012 to November 2014 - people's deputy of the VII convocation from Batkivshchyna, ran in the single-mandate district No. 219 in Kyiv. Member of the parliamentary committee on state construction and local self-government. Non-partisan.

On March 7, 2014, by the decree of the acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov, he was appointed head of the Kyiv City State Administration. In this position, Bondarenko replaced Vladimir Makeenko.

On June 25, 2014, President Petro Poroshenko by his decree relieved Bondarenko from the post of head of KCSA and appointed Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko in his place.

From October 25, 2015, to November 2020 - deputy of the Kyiv City Council. He passed first on the list of Batkivshchyna. In the mayoral elections in Kyiv, Bondarenko took 4th place in the first round, receiving 7.86% of the votes (68460 people).

Public activity. Bondarenko is the chairman of the board of the charity fund Native Housing, president of the public organization "Festival Kyiv Rus".

Family. The politician is married and has raised two daughters.

Hobbies. In his free time, he is fond of gardening, beekeeping, and folk art.

Death. Vladimir Bondarenko passed away on August 24, 2021, at the age of 69.
