Borshchuk Anatoliy

Date of birth: 02.06.1946

Place of birth. Education. Born in Kyiv. After school, he studied at a topographic technical school and worked as a surveyor. In 1974, he graduated from the Film Department of the Kyiv Institute of Theater Arts named after I. Karpenko-Kary with a specialization in "Film and Television Directing".

Career. Until 1989, Anatoliy Borshchuk worked as a higher category director at the Kyivnaukfilm studio. From 1989 to 1993, he was the artistic director and chairman of the artistic council of the "Thursday" film studio.

He produced eight feature-length popular science and documentary films, over 20 short films, and commercials, including:

  • ‘Kozlovsky’ (1978), award for best film portrait at the X Youth Film Festival,
  • ’Metamorphoses’ (1979), honorary diploma of the 17th International Short Film Festival in Krakow (1980),
  • ’Scratch on Ice’ (1982), the main prize of the 15th All-Union Film Festival in Leningrad (1983),
  • ’Waviłova’s Star’ (1984), the main prize of the 16th All-Union Film Festival in Minsk (1985),
  • ’Together with Makarenko’ (1987), medal and award named after A. Makarenko,
  • ’Okszulag’ (1991), honorary diploma of the 1st All-Ukrainian Film Festival,
  • ’Dying in Russia’ (1992), ’Night Owl’ (1993), ’Nika What...’ (1995).

From 1993 to 1998, Anatoliy Borshchuk was the artistic director of the film director courses at the Kyiv Institute of Theater Arts.

Since August 1996, he has been the author and host of programs on the 1+1 channel - "Kinonostalgia", "Nocturnal Conversation with a Woman", "Monologues", "First Million", "Double Evidence", "Black on White", "Tasty Country".

In June 2004, he participated in the tele-show "Fort Boyard".

In January 2006, he became the host of the program "Black on White".

In October 2006, he participated in the tele-project "Dances with Stars".

From August 2007 to August 2008, he hosted the program "Tasty Country".

Bibliography. "35 and One Interesting" (2010) - based on the television program "Monologues". The book contains interviews with Mykola Amosov, Pavlo Zahriebelnyi, Andriy Vožniesinskyi, Oleg Basylashvili, and others.

Social activities. From 1985 to 1990, he was a member of the Central Auditing Commission of the USSR Cinematographers Union. From 1989 to 1992, he was the secretary of the board of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine. He was the chairman of the committee for international ties of the SK of Ukraine. He participates in social and charitable projects.

Awards. In 1987, he was awarded the T.G. Shevchenko State Prize of Ukraine (for the film "Waviłova's Star"). Honored Artist of Ukraine (2004).

In 1999, he received the award of the Ukrainian television competition "Golden Era" for the program "Monologues".

Winner of the national program "Person of the Year - 2004" in the category "Journalist of the Year in electronic media".

In 2007, he was the laureate of the "Teletriumph" award for the program "Black on White".

Family. Wife - Olena Vasylyeva, historian. Daughters Yulia and Yevheniya.

Interests. Likes to travel and enjoy good food.
