James Frederick Bridenstine - an American Republican who served as a member of the United States House of Representatives for Oklahoma's 1st Congressional District from 2013 to 2018 and was the NASA Administrator from 2018 to 2021.

Place of Birth and Education. James Frederick Bridenstine was born on June 15, 1975, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He graduated from Jenks High School in Oklahoma in 1993.

In 1998, he graduated with a degree in Economics, Psychology, and Business Administration from Rice University. In 2009, he earned his MBA from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.

Military Service. From 1998 to 2007, Bridenstine served as a pilot in the US Marine Corps. Since 2010, he has been in the US Marine Reserves. He completed tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2012, he was promoted to lieutenant.

Career. After transitioning from active duty to the US Marine Reserves, James Bridenstine returned to Tulsa, Oklahoma, to become the Executive Director of the Aviation, Space, and Planetarium Museum.

From January 2013 to April 23, 2018, he served as a member of the US House of Representatives for the 1st Congressional District.

In the 2016 presidential campaign, Bridenstine was one of three co-chairs of the Veterans Coalition supporting Ted Cruz as the Republican nominee.

On September 1, 2017, President Donald Trump nominated Jim Bridenstine as Administrator of NASA. This nomination was quickly criticized by both Republicans and Democrats, who claimed that the NASA Administrator should be a 'space professional' and not a politician or an ally of Trump. Critics pointed out that Bridenstine, unlike previous officeholders, did not have a formal science-technical background.

On April 19, 2018, James Bridenstine was confirmed by the Senate, with only one vote to spare in a party-line vote of 50-49. He became the first congressional representative to lead NASA. On April 23, 2018, Bridenstine took the oath of office at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C., before Vice President Mike Pence.

On January 20, 2021, Jim Bridenstine resigned as NASA Administrator.

Family. He is married and has three children.
