Igor Valentinovich Burakovsky is a Ukrainian economist. Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor at the Department of Economic Theory of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Kyiv. In 1980, he graduated from the Faculty of International Relations and International Law at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (International Economists). In the 1990s, he completed internships and training programs abroad: at the University of Birmingham (United Kingdom, 1991-1992), at the Institute of International Relations and the Economic Planning Bureau (Japan, 1994-1995), at Stanford University (USA, 1997).
Doctor of Economic Sciences (1998).
Career. From 1980 to 1983 - Deputy Secretary of the Komsomol Committee at Kyiv Taras Shevchenko University, 1983-1988 - Researcher at the Faculty of Economics, 1988-1990 - Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee, 1988-1994 - Senior Lecturer, Acting Professor, Professor at the Department of International Relations.
Since 2001 - Senior Economist, Project Manager at the Kyiv Center of the Institute 'East-West'. In recent years - Chairman of the Board - Director of the Non-Governmental Organization 'Institute for Economic Research and Political Consulting'.
Professor at the Department of Economic Theory at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA). Teaches courses such as 'International Economics' and 'Theory of International Trade'.
As an expert, he specializes in analyzing the problems of economic reforms in transition economies, integration processes, international trade, and trade policy.
Chairman of the International Foundation 'Revival' (MFV), which is part of the network of foundations of the 'Open Society Institute', financed by American multimillionaire and philanthropist George Soros.
Scientific Activity. Author, co-author, and editor of over 50 scientific works and books. Participated in a number of international scientific research projects.
