Biography of Vasyl Burba

Date of Birth: 01.01.1978

Vasyl Vasylovich Burba - Colonel General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (2016-2020). Doctor of Law, member of the Bar Council of Kyiv.

Place of Birth. Education. Born on January 1, 1978. Graduated from the National Academy of Security Services of Ukraine with a degree in Law.

Career. Worked for a long time at the Security Service of Ukraine. Participant in combat operations in the ATO zone.

On October 15, 2016, Vasyl Burba was appointed Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine by decree of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko. He replaced Valeriy Kondratyuk in this position, who had previously been appointed Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.

Member of the Interministerial Commission for Political and Military Technical Cooperation and Export Control.

On August 5, 2020, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dismissed Vasyl Burba from his position as head of the military intelligence of Ukraine.

Since 2020 he has been acting as a lawyer and is a member of the Bar Council of Kyiv.

Awards, Titles. In 2011 he was awarded the Order of Prince Yuri II class. In April 2016 he received the Order of Prince Yuri I class for successfully conducting a number of intelligence and reconnaissance operations.

In August 2016 he was awarded the military rank of Major General. In 2017 he was awarded the military rank of Lieutenant General. In 2018 he was awarded the military rank of Colonel General.
