Biography of Roman Chaika

Roman Yaroslavovich Chaika - Ukrainian television presenter, journalist, musician.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Lviv. Graduated from school with a golden medal (mathematical course). He graduated from the biological faculty of Lviv National University with a red diploma (biochemist). He received musical education in the classical guitar class. In 1994, he completed training in broadcasting journalism in Germany with the support of 'AMARC-Europe'.

Career. The first journalistic materials were published by Roman Chaika in the newspaper 'Post-Postup' in the early 1990s, whose editor-in-chief was the well-known journalist, head of 'Public Radio', Alexander Krivenko (who died in a car accident in spring 2003). Later, he became a special correspondent for 'Lviv Newspaper' in Kyiv.

In 1993, he was involved in the founding of the national radio 'Radio Lyux'. He was a presenter, music editor.

1996-1998 - Author and presenter of political and musical programs on 'Lvivskaya Volna' radio.

2000-2002 - Program manager and presenter of political programs at 'Radio Initsiativa - Niko FM'.

2002-2003 - Head of the 'Niko FM' radio station.

2003-2004 - Editor-in-chief of TRC 'Ekspres-Inform' (Channel 5).

From 2004 to 2007, he was the editor and presenter of the program '5 Kopeken' on Channel 5.

Author of the documentary 'Vacuum' (2003), filmed in Iraq and Kuwait during the anti-Saddam military operation.

From 2011 to 2014, he hosted the analytical program 'Time. Results of the Day'.

Since 2014, he has been hosting the talk show program 'Reformclub'.

2012-2016 he hosted the political talk show 'Time. Daily Summaries' on Channel 5.

From 2016 to 2019, he hosted the program 'Za chai.com' on Channel 5.

2019 - Host of the program 'Group of Continued Ground' on Channel 5.

From 2020 to 2021, he hosted the program 'Time.Ch', the host of the political talk show '5 Kopeken' on Channel 5.

2023 - Host of the Espresso channel.

Creativity. Known as a guitarist and author of many songs of the cult band 'Mertviy Petukh'.

During its existence, the band released the albums 'Das' (1990), 'Mertviy Petukh'93' (1993), 'Underground Zoo' (Live in studio, 1994), 'Live in Lviv' (1995), 'IL Testamento' (1996-1997), 'City God Eros' (1997), 'Shabadabada' (1998), 'Songs of the Dead Rooster' (2006).

Awards. Honored Journalist of Ukraine (2007).

Family. Has two sons. His wife Lydia is an editor and producer of documentaries.
