Biography of Oleg Zarew

Oleg Anatolyevich Zarew - former Ukrainian businessman, collaborator, pro-Russian politician, separatist. He is hiding from investigations by the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office on charges of treason for collaborating with Russia in the Russian Federation.

Oleg Anatolyevich Zarew was born on June 2, 1970, in Dnipropetrovsk. In 1992, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Engineering Physics with a focus on 'Automation and Electronics of Physical Facilities.'

From 1992 to 1993, he worked as a production preparation engineer at the company 'Awteks.' From 1993 to 1995, he was the director of the Ukrainian Financial Insurance Cooperative 'Trust.'

From 1995 to 2002, Oleg Anatolyevich Zarew held the positions of deputy director and director of the companies 'Dnipropetrovsk Computer Network,' 'Silicon Valley,' and the deputy director for economics of the 'Dnipropetrovsk Paper Factory.'

From 2002 to 2006, Oleg Anatolyevich Zarew was a deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament of the IV Congress from electoral district No. 40 in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

From 2006 to 2007, he was a deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament of the V Congress of the Party of Regions.

From 2007 to 2012, he served as a deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VI Congress of the Party of Regions.

From December 2012 to November 2014, he was a deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VII Congress, elected by the Party of Regions in a single-member electoral district No. 40. In 2014, he voted for undemocratic laws that restrict the rights of citizens and freedom of speech.

In March 2014, Oleg Anatolyevich Zarew submitted an application as a presidential candidate of Ukraine but received no support from the Party of Regions and was excluded.

In June 2014, Zarew was elected as the 'Speaker of Parliament' of the Union of People's Republics - an association of the so-called 'DNR' and 'LNR.'

Oleg Zarew insisted on the violent actions against the protesters on the Euromaidan. He stated that 'no government in the world would negotiate with terrorists, bandits, and extremists' while negotiations between Viktor Yanukovych and the opposition leaders began.

In May 2022, Oleg Zarew was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison for public calls for separatism and violent change of the constitutional order using the media.

On November 14, 2023, Zarew was confronted with a new suspicion - the financing of the Rosgvardia.

Oleg Anatolyevich Zarew is married to Larisa, who worked as the assistant director of JSC 'Dnipropetrovsk Paper Factory.' They have a son Maxim and daughters Olga and Yekaterina. Maxim and Olga live and study in Great Britain.
