Ahmet Davutoglu

Date of Birth: February 26, 1959

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the Turkish province of Konya. It is not widely known what nationality Ahmet Davutoglu belongs to. The Turkish Prime Minister himself stated that his grandmother was a Tatar woman.

He received his schooling at the Istanbul Boys' High School. In 1984, he graduated from Bogazici University with degrees in Economics, Political Science, and International Relations, obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration, and earned a doctorate in Political Science and International Relations, becoming a professor.

Career. In 1990, he began teaching as an assistant professor at the International Islamic University Malaysia. From 1993 to 1995, he was a lecturer at the Department of Political Science.

From 1995 to 1999, he was a lecturer at the Department of International Relations at Marmara University.

From 1998 to 2002, he taught as a visiting professor at the Military Academy and military academies of Turkey.

From 1999 to 2004, he was a professor, a member of the academic council, and head of the Department of International Relations at Beykent University, also giving guest lectures at the Department of International Relations at Marmara University.

From November 2002 to May 2009, he served as the chief advisor to the Turkish Prime Minister.

In 2003, Ahmet Davutoglu was granted the rank of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador.

From May 1, 2009, to August 28, 2014, he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

On August 21, 2014, Davutoglu was elected chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party.

Since August 29, 2014, he has been the Prime Minister of Turkey.

On May 23, 2016, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accepted Davutoglu's resignation after the ruling party of Turkey, the Justice and Development Party, elected a new chairman - Binali Yildirim, the day before.
