Pavel Vladimirovich Demchina - Ukrainian military, lieutenant general, former first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine - former head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Central Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Place of Birth. Education. Born on August 25, 1976, in Rivne.
In 2000, he graduated from the National Law Academy named after Yaroslav the Wise.
Career. He has served in the Security Service of Ukraine since 1994.
From 1999 to 2009, he served in a regional unit of the Security Service of Ukraine.
In 2000, he began working as an operational officer at a particularly important facility (nuclear power plant) in the area of the Main Administration of the Security Service of Ukraine in the city of Kuznetsovsk (Rivne region).
In 2009, he was appointed to the Central Department of the Security Service of Ukraine and served in the field of combating corruption and organized crime.
On March 25, 2016, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree awarding the rank of major general to the first deputy head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine Pavel Demchina.
On July 16, 2016, Pavel Demchina was appointed by decree of the President of Ukraine No. 302/2016 as the first deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine - head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Central Department of the Security Service of Ukraine.
On August 23, 2017 - the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed a decree promoting Pavel Demchina to lieutenant general as the first deputy head of the SBU.
On May 17, 2019, Pavel Demchina submitted his resignation from the position of deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine - head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Central Department of the SBU. On May 18, Petro Poroshenko dismissed Pavel Demchina from his position as first deputy head of the SBU.
Awards. Order of Bohdan Khmelnytskyi III Class (March 23, 2012) - for significant personal contribution to the protection of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, exemplary fulfillment of official duty. Department award of the SBU 'Firearm'.
Income and Asset Declaration. According to the declaration for the year 2015, Pavel Demchina officially lives in an SBU dormitory, without owning a house, car, or savings.
In March 2017, media published information about the movable and immovable property of the Demchina family. According to Slidstvo.Info, the civil woman and mother of three children of the official, 35-year-old Olga Volovchuk, is the owner of luxury cars and lives in a luxurious country house. According to journalists, Volovchuk owns a whole fleet of vehicles, including four cars: a 2016 Range Rover worth around $100,000, a 2016 Mercedes-Benz priced at no less than $100,000, a 2014 Mazda, and a 2012 Peugeot. According to journalistic investigations, the general's mother, pensioner Nina Demchina, has recently become the owner of a three-room apartment in a new building in Kyiv and a 170 square meter house in a suburb of the regional center. After the publication of this information, NABU began collecting and analyzing information to verify Pavel Demchina's electronic declaration for the year 2016.
On March 10, 2017, Demchina applied to NABU to verify the information published in the media and his income declaration.
In September 2018, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau prepared an indictment for illegal enrichment against the deputy head of the Security Service of Ukraine Pavel Demchina.
