Career. In 1994, Tomáš Fiala began his career as an investment banker at Bayerische Vereinsbank in Prague, simultaneously with his studies at the University of Economics in Prague.
From 1994 to 1995, he worked at the Prague office of Wood & Company (Analyst, analyzing privatization processes in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Poland).
From 1995 to 1998, he served as the director of the Ukrainian office of Wood & Company.
From 1998 to 2000, he worked at the Wood & Company office in Warsaw.
In 2000, he co-founded the investment company Dragon Capital with partners and became its CEO. The company has offices in Ukraine and Cyprus.
From 2016 to 2018, Dragon Capital invested about $400 million in Ukrainian real estate with European and American partners. Among Fiala's investment partners in the company is the American financier George Soros.
In 2014, he founded the weekly magazine Novoe vremya, as well as the news website NV and Radio NV.
Tomáš Fiala is a member of the board of directors of several companies, including the Dragon-Ukrainian Properties & Development plc fund, whose shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange (AIM).
From 2010 to 2015, Tomáš Fiala served as president of the European Business Association (EBA) and was re-elected to this position in 2016.
In 2015, Tomáš co-founded and became chairman of the supervisory board of the Center for Economic Strategy, an independent research center for public policy.
Since October 2016, he has been a member of the board of Transparency International Ukraine, the Ukrainian chapter of the global anti-corruption organization.
He maintains close relationships with emerging and active politicians and activists, including Svyatoslav Vakarchuk. Together with the musician, he co-founded the Center for Economic Strategy and promotes the participation of talented Ukrainians in educational programs at Stanford University.
Together with the oligarch Victor Pinchuk he is a sponsor of the 'New Leaders' project.
In May 2021, Tomáš Fiala became the new owner of the Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrainska pravda.
Wealth. In 2015, the magazine Focus estimated Tomáš Fiala's wealth at $187.9 million (2013 - $145.2 million). He ranks 78th on the list of the richest people in Ukraine.
Family. Married. His wife Natalia Fiala is the director of the charitable organization 'People of the Future' (one of the founders is Svyatoslav Vakarchuk).
