Biography of Alexey Valeryevich Filatov

Alexey Valeryevich Filatov is a Ukrainian lawyer, a specialist in judicial practice. Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine (2014-2019).
Place of Birth, Education. Alexey Filatov was born in Kyiv. In 1998, he graduated from the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, majoring in international law. In the same year, he received his attorney's certificate.
He is fluent in English and Spanish.
Career. From 1998 to 2001, Alexey Filatov served as an assistant in the Department of International Law at the Institute of International Relations of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Concurrently, he practiced privately in corporate and competition law, intellectual property, and dispute resolution, providing legal consultations to companies.
In 2003, Alexey Filatov joined the team of the law firm Vasily Kisel and Partners as an associated partner.
Since 2005, he has been a partner of the firm, and since 2007, he has led the dispute resolution practice.
On July 22, 2014, by decree of the President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko No. 610/2014, Alexey Filatov was appointed Deputy Head of the Administration of the President.
Filatov specializes in dispute resolution, intellectual property, corporate law, taxation, as well as mergers and acquisitions, in international and national arbitration and judicial processes, with particular attention to investment, corporate, and commercial disputes, and also has significant experience in banking dispute resolution.
Arbitration cases in which Filatov represented clients were examined by the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), as well as under the regulations of the ICC, UNCITRAL, the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and the International Commercial Arbitration Court at the Russian Chamber of Commerce. Alexey Filatov also regularly participates as an expert or consultant on Ukrainian law in international arbitration and judicial processes. His experience includes participation in cases at the Supreme Court of Justice in London, courts in Switzerland and Cyprus.
Filatov was a consultant in the transaction for the sale of 99.9% of the shares of the media holding UMH-group, which was previously owned by the former head of the President's Administration Boris Lozhkin.
On May 11, 2019, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko released Alexey Filatov from the position of Deputy Head of the Administration of the President.
Awards. Authoritative international and national rankings (Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Legal 500, Ukrainian Law Firms) recommend Alexey Filatov as one of the best Ukrainian experts in dispute resolution. The experts of the Legal Newspaper included him in the Top 100 best Ukrainian lawyers.
Alexey Filatov is a member of the Association of Lawyers of Ukraine, the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the World Network of Independent Law Firms TerraLex, the Kyiv Regional Bar Association, the International Trademark Association (INTA), and the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. He is also a member of the Ukrainian Group (AIPPI), the International Bar Association (IBA), the Ukrainian Association of International Law, and the Ukrainian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Ukraine).
