Biography of Olga Gerasimuk

Olga Vladimirovna Gerasimuk was born on October 21, 1958, in Pyriatyn, Poltava Oblast. She is a well-known Ukrainian journalist, politician, and television presenter.

In 1981, Gerasimuk graduated from Shevchenko University in Kyiv with a degree in journalism. Starting from 1981, she worked as a correspondent for the newspaper 'Komsomolets Poltavschyny' and later 'Komsomolskoe Znamya'. Throughout her career, Olga Gerasimuk worked for media such as the magazine 'Cholovik i svit', the newspaper 'UNIAN', the television channel 'Nova Mova', and the television channel '1+1'. Since July 2005, she has been the general producer of the channel 'Studio 1+1'.

Olga Gerasimuk was also politically active. In 2006, she was elected as a deputy of the 'Our Ukraine' bloc to the Ukrainian Parliament. In the next legislative session, she was elected for the presidential bloc 'Our Ukraine - National Self-Defense'. In Parliament, Gerasimuk chaired the subcommittee on cooperation with NATO and the committee on European Integration.

On November 25, 2004, during the presidential elections in Ukraine, Gerasimuk, along with other journalists, demanded the restoration of complete news coverage and the provision of honest and objective news for viewers. This was especially important at a time when the Orange Revolution was taking place in Ukraine, and citizens, especially in the east and south of the country, suffered from a lack of information.

In July 2014, Olga Gerasimuk became the deputy chairperson of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine, and since April 22, 2020, she has held the position of chairperson of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine.

Olga Gerasimuk has also achieved recognition in the field of journalism. She received the 'Independence-99' award from the Union of Journalists of Ukraine, was named a laureate of the 'Golden Era of Ukraine-99', received a 'Golden Star' at the 'Unified World-99' television festival in London, and was awarded the title of 'Laureate of the National Program 'Person of the Year-99' as well as the V. Marchenko Prize.

Olga Gerasimuk has a son, and her hobbies include traveling, basketball, music, and reading.
