Anna Nikolaevna German - Journalist, writer, people's deputy of Ukraine in the V, VI, and VII Congress of the Party of Regions.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in the Lviv region (Father - worker, Mother - cultural worker). From 1979 to 1982 she studied at the Faculty of Journalism of Lviv University (Qualification - Journalist). She speaks English, German, and Polish.
Career. 1981-1984 - Teleprinter operator, correspondent, head of the editorial office of the Nikolayev District Newspaper Lenin-Zaria.
1985-1990 - Correspondent of the Lviv Youth Newspaper.
1991-2002 - Correspondent of the Lviv City Newspaper Rathaus. At the same time, freelance contributor to Radio Liberty, correspondent for Radio Free Europe - Radio Liberty in Warsaw.
2002-2004 - Head of the Kyiv office of Radio Free Europe - Radio Liberty.
In May 2004, German became the press secretary of Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych, leading the press service of the Cabinet. After the Orange Revolution, she was an advisor and press secretary to Yanukovych as chairman of the Party of Regions.
In the 2006 parliamentary elections, German was elected as a deputy of Ukraine from the Party of Regions No. 106. Until January 2007, she was the deputy head of the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information (deputy Andriy Shevchenko). Then she moved to the ranks of committee members on foreign affairs.
In the early parliamentary elections of 2007, German took 48th place on the Party of Regions list. In Parliament VII, she became the deputy faction leader and again headed the well-known Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information. After Yanukovych's victory in the presidential elections, she resigned her mandate to become the deputy head of his administration (head - Serhiy Lyovochkin). On April 5, 2011, she was dismissed as part of the administrative reform and appointed advisor to the president - head of the main department for humanitarian and socio-political affairs of the presidential administration.
From December 2012 to November 2014, she was a member of the Parliament of Ukraine VII Congress of Regions (No. 13 on the electoral list). Deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities, and Interethnic Relations.
On January 9, 2013, Yanukovych appointed German as an extraordinary advisor to the president, on February 24, 2014, the acting president of Ukraine Alexander Turchynov dismissed her from this position.
On January 16, 2014, she voted for the 'dictatorial laws' - a package of undemocratic laws that significantly restricted citizens' rights and freedom of speech.
Since July 2016, she has been hosting the program 'Subjective Results of the Week' on the NewsOne channel (the channel was closed in 2021 due to anti-Ukrainian activities).
Social Engagement. In 1987, she was a member of the board of the Union of Journalists of the USSR (Moscow). From August 2006 to December 2007, she was an advisor to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yanukovych.

Family. German is married (husband Sergei German - diplomat). Her youngest son Roman German died in a car accident on June 15, 2009. Her oldest son Nikolai German was the deputy head of the Ministry of Emergencies. On September 17, 2015, Nikolai German died of a heart attack.
