Gizo Tristanovich Uglava - first deputy director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. In 2015, he obtained Ukrainian citizenship.
Place of birth. Education. Gizo Tristanovich Uglava was born on November 18, 1975, in Kutaisi, Georgia.
In 1992, he graduated from secondary school. That same year, he entered the law faculty of Tbilisi State University named after Ivan Javakhishvili, which he graduated from in 1998 with a degree in 'Jurisprudence', qualification - lawyer.

Professional career. In the Georgian Prosecutor's Office, Gizo Uglava worked from 1998 to 2012, rising from an intern in the regional prosecutor's office to the Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia.
From 1998 to 2001 - internship in the regional prosecutor's office of Imereti. Main areas of activity: investigation of criminal cases.
From 2001 to 2003 - senior investigatorof the Imereti prosecutor's office.
From 2003 to 2004 - head of the investigative department of the regional prosecutor's office of Imereti.
From 2004 to 2008, he served as the district prosecutor of Zestafoni.
From 2008 to 2009 - regional prosecutor of Western Georgia.
From 2009 to 2010 - prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
From 2009 to 2012, he worked as Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Georgia. Uglava's activities included combating corruption, legalizing illegal income, and financial crimes. He dealt with cases related to the appropriation of millions of state funds involving state officials of various ranks, as well as private individuals.
One of the most high-profile cases was the investigation of oil product smuggling, during which more than 20 persons were arrested, and over 15 million USD was returned to the state. Also significant for the fight against corruption in Georgia was the case of illegal appropriation of land plots that were state property. About 30 persons were convicted for illegal actions, and state property worth over 30 million USD was returned.
Since February 11, 2013, he has been the founder of the law firm LLC 'LEGAL CONSULTING AND SERVICES', where he engaged in advocacy.
Career in Ukraine. In 2014, Gizo Uglava arrived in Ukraine as part of a team of Georgian reformers as an advisor. He worked in a group that was involved in the implementation of anti-corruption legislation.
In 2015, he obtained Ukrainian citizenship.
On April 25, 2015, he was appointed as the first deputy director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine. He is responsible for the recruitment, training, and work of detectives, analysts, and the IT department of NABU.
From April 16, 2022, to March 6, 2023, he was the acting director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau instead of the dismissed Artem Sytnyk.
Awards. During his work in the Georgian Prosecutor's Office, he received three state awards: Medal of Honor, Order of Honor, and Order of Radiance.
