Life Path of German Borisovich Khan

German Borisovich Khan was born on October 24, 1961, in Kyiv. He began his career as an apprentice locksmith at the Kyiv Experimental Plant for Non-standard Equipment. After graduating from high school in 1982, he enrolled at the Kyiv Industrial-Pedagogical Technical School and graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys in 1988.

Career

From 1988-1989, German Khan worked in commercial organizations. He then became the head of wholesale and later the director of the raw materials department of the company 'Alfa-Eco', which is part of the Alfa Group. Since 1996, he has held the position of president of this company. Furthermore, since 1998, German Khan has been the deputy chairman of the board of the Tyumen Oil Company (TNK).

In 2003, he was appointed Executive Director of the international oil company TNK-BP and a board member of OAO 'TNK-VR Management'. After the completion of the deal to acquire TNK-VR by Rosneft in 2013, German Khan left the company.

On June 17, 2013, Khan was appointed head of the company L1 Energy, which is engaged in investments in the oil and gas sector.

Social Engagement and Position

German Khan is a member of the Presidium of the Russian Jewish Congress (RJC). His social engagement is also confirmed by his participation in many large financial projects and his high position in the company L1 Energy.

Family and Position

German Khan is married and has four children - two daughters and two sons. He holds Russian and Israeli citizenship. According to various rankings, Khan holds leading positions among the richest entrepreneurs in Russia in 2021 and has a considerable personal fortune.

Due to the extensive Russian invasion of Ukraine, German Khan is under personal international sanctions imposed by 27 EU countries, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Switzerland, Australia, and other states.
