Vadim Yurievich Karasev - Ukrainian political scientist, political technologist, and analyst, Head of the Institute for Global Strategies. One of the leaders of the party United Center.

Place of Birth. Education. Born on May 18, 1956, in Korostyshiv, Zhytomyr Oblast. Graduate of Kharkiv State University, majoring in Political Economy, followed by postgraduate studies at the same institution.

Career. For 10 years, from 1986 to 1996, he taught political economy and political science at his alma mater. He then worked for another six years before moving to the capital, as the first deputy head of the Kharkiv branch of the National Institute for Strategic Studies.

Since 2003, Karasev has been the director of the Institute for Global Strategies (Kyiv). His scientific specialization is in the field of international relations, electoral politics, and institutional design.

Karasev is a well-known political scientist and political technologist, author of over a hundred scientific works, co-author of many state documents, strategic doctrines, and programs, a member of several expert commissions, and observation councils.

Author of the book 'Thinking at the Speed of Politics', co-author of several political science textbooks.

From Political Scientist to Politician. In the 2006 parliamentary elections, the independent expert political scientist attempted to enter parliament through the list of the Veche party (then led by the former head of the State Committee for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship, former Deputy Minister of Justice Inna Bohoslovska), overcoming the three percent electoral threshold.

In July 2010, Karasev joined the United Center party and became one of its leaders in August (alongside Victor Baloga, Igor Kryly, Igor Popov, Olesya Orobets, Kirill Kulikov, Vasiliy Petevka, Victor Topolov).

In the fall of 2012, he ran for parliament in single-member district No. 217 in Kyiv for the VII assembly but lost to the candidate from the Fatherland party, Alexander Bryhinets.

In December 2019, he became the host of the talk show 'Black Swan' on the NewsOne TV channel.
