Short Biography of Vladimir Klimov

Date of Birth: 31.03.1953

Place of Birth and Education. Born in Makeyevka, Donetsk Oblast. In 1974, he graduated from the Odessa Institute of National Economy with a specialization in commodity science and organization of food trade.

Career. From 1970 to 1971, he worked as a firefighter at the fire station in Makeyevka. From 1971 to 1973, he served in the army.

From 1973 to 1976, he worked as a driver at the Odessa Plant for Construction Machinery and as a driver in the district tuberculosis dispensary. From 1976 to 1982, he was the head of the organizational-instructional department of the Central Committee of the Komsomol in Odessa and an instructor in the organizational department of the Odessa city branch of the Odessa Railway.

From 1982 to 1989, he was the director of Primorsky Trade.

From 1989 to 1990, he was the deputy head of the Trade Department of Odessa Oblast.

From 1990 to 1991, he was the head of the road operation for labor supply of the Odessa Railway.

From 1991 to 2002, he was the president of the trading house Primorye, president of the joint-stock trading bank Imexbank, and president of the financial-industrial group Primorye.

From 1998, he was the president and from 2001 the honorary president of the joint-stock company football club 'Chornomorets'.

Political Career. Since 2002, he has been a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Party of Regions. In the VII Parliamentary Council, he is a member of the Finance and Banking Committee.

He heads the Odessa Banking Association.

On June 24, 2010, he was appointed as a permanent advisor to President Viktor Yanukovych. On February 24, 2014, he was dismissed from this position by a decision of the acting President Oleksandr Turchynov.

On January 16, 2014, he voted for the 'Dictator Laws' - a package of anti-democratic laws that significantly restricted citizens' rights and freedom of speech.

Since February 2014, he has been a member of the 'Economic Development' group.

On February 24, 2014, a deputy group 'Economic Development' was created in the Verkhovna Rada, led by Anatoliy Kinach. In the leadership of the parliamentary association, there are two co-chairs - Anatoliy Kinach and Vitaliy Khomutynnyk, as well as three deputy heads - Vitaliy Zhuravsky, Mykhailo Myronenko, and Volodymyr Pylypenko.

On February 24, 2014, 76 deputies of the Party of Regions submitted a statement about their withdrawal from the faction during or after the tragic events of February 18-20.

In the 2014 parliamentary elections, he ran in constituency No. 137 (Odessa Oblast) as an independent candidate and was elected to the Verkhovna Rada. He is a member of the Finance Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

He is a member of the deputy group of the party 'Revival'.

In the early parliamentary elections of 2019, he ran in the 137th majority constituency (Odessa Oblast). In the voting, he received 23.09% (15,963 votes) and lost to Oleksiy Honcharuk (29.55%, 20,425 votes).

Awards. He was awarded the Order of 'For Merit' of III class (2003), II class (2011), and I class (2013).

Family. Wife Tatiana (1962 born) - housewife. Klimov has three children: daughters Daria (born 1983) and Anastasia (born 1997) and son Alexei (born 1994)
