Pat Cox

Patrick Cox - Irish and European politician, television journalist. From 1989 to 2004, he was a member of the European Parliament and from 2002 to 2004 he also served as its president.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in the capital of Ireland, Dublin. Cox obtained his degree from the University of Limerick and Trinity College in Dublin.
Career. 1982-1986 - Television journalist, host of the news program Today Tonight.
In 1989, he was elected as a member of the Irish Parliament. That same year, he also became a member of the European Parliament.
1998-2002 he led the Liberal Group in the European Parliament.
2002-2004 - President of the European Parliament.
Since June 2012, he has been a member of the EU mission to monitor Ukraine in collaboration with former Polish President Aleksander Kwaśniewski, aimed at ending the practice of judicial elections and securing the release of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko from prison. The mission was established by the European Parliament to prepare for a potential association agreement between Ukraine and the EU and to create a free trade area.
On July 3, 2015, he was appointed head of the European Parliament mission aimed at creating a 'reform roadmap' for the Ukrainian Parliament.
In October 2017, he became a member of the board of the investment companyAppian Asset Management.
