Place of Birth. Education.

Born in Donetsk. In 1985, he graduated from the Donetsk Industrial College with a focus on 'Maintenance and Repair of Vehicles'. In 1989, he graduated from the Moscow Higher Military Command School with a focus on 'Engineering'. In 1993, he completed the German Finance Academy in Munich with a degree in 'Economics'.

Career.

In 1985, he worked as a locksmith in a car repair shop in Makeevka, Donetsk Oblast. From 1989 to 1992, he served as an officer in the Soviet Armed Forces, as an assistant to the military governor in Wismar and Berlin. From 1993 to 1995, he was the director of OJSC 'Ukrenergoresource' (Donetsk), president of the VIKO TV and radio company (Donetsk). From 1995 to 1996, he was the deputy head of the executive committee for planning, finance, and budget of the Kuibyshevsky district administration in Donetsk. From 1996 to 1998, he was an advisor to the deputy head and the first deputy head, advisor to the head of the Donetsk regional administration Viktor Yanukovych.

From 1998 to 2006, he was a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the III-IV convocations. He was a member and then deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on budgetary issues. He also belonged to the factions 'Labor Ukraine', 'Regions of Ukraine', and the Party of Regions. In 2004, he supported Yanukovych in the presidential elections. After the 'Orange Revolution', he left 'Regions' and joined the 'Labor Ukraine' party. During 2005, there was a conflict with his colleague Volodymyr Sivkovych, which led to his departure from 'Labor Ukraine'.

In August 2007, during the early parliamentary elections, 'Labor Ukraine' joined the Party of Regions, and Konovalyuk was included in the party list of the 'Party of Regions'.

In the Parliament of the VI convocation, he was the chairman of the subcommittee for planning budget programs and controlling the use of budget funds in healthcare of the health committee. He was the deputy chairman of the temporary parliamentary investigative committee to determine high housing prices in Kyiv and the failure to fulfill obligations of developers from investment contracts in housing construction.

Elections and Messages.

Presidential elections in UkraineOn May 17, 2014, he was elected chairman of the political party All-Ukrainian Association 'New Ukraine' during the congress of the public organization VO 'New Ukraine'.

Awards.

Doctor of Economics (2004). Academician of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Ukraine. Honored Economist of Ukraine. Awarded the Order of 'For Merit' of the second and third class.

Family.

In October 2012, he entered into his second marriage. His wife is the Ukrainian host and journalist Valeria Ushakova. The marriage produced two children: Ilya and Lukiya (born in 2015). From his first marriage, the politician has two children - daughter Yevhenia (born in 1993) and son Vladyslav (born in 1996).

Hobbies.

Judo. He holds the title of master of sports in this martial art. He heads the Judo Federation of the Donetsk region.
