Biography of Julia Kuzmenko

Julia Leonidovna Kuzmenko - Ukrainian volunteer, pediatric heart surgeon, military doctor.
Place of Birth. Education. Born on November 5, 1979, in Kyiv. In 1996, she graduated from high school in Krasnodar (Russia).
From 1996 to 2002, she studied at the Bogomolets Medical University.
From 2002 to 2006, she worked at the Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery.
Since 2003, she has been working at the Research and Practical Center for Pediatric Cardiology and Heart Surgery of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine as a pediatric surgeon.
Since 2007, she has been the head of the Department of X-ray Angiography and Endovascular Surgery at the Children's Heart Surgery Center.
After the start of the ATO in Eastern Ukraine, she became a volunteer at Euromaidan SOS.
In 2021, she participated in the by-elections to the Verkhovna Rada for the European Solidarity party in Donetsk region and took third place, receiving 6.69% of the votes.
Awards. In 2016 - Presidential Award for humanitarian participation in the ATO.
In 2016, she received the Volunteer Award 'Euromaidan SOS 2016'.
Criminal case. On December 12, 2019, Julia Kuzmenko was detained on suspicion of preparing the murder of the famous Ukrainian journalist Pavel Sheremet.
On July 20, 2016, the car of the head of Ukrainska Pravda, Alena Prytula, in which Pavel Sheremet was located, was blown up. He died. On December 12, 2019, law enforcement agencies named the suspects and explained how they had come across them. Andrei Antonenko, nurse Jana Dugar, a doctor and volunteer Julia Kuzmenko were under suspicion. According to the investigation, Dugar surveyed the area before the crime, and Kuzmenko is said to have placed the explosive. Antonenko, they alleged, assisted Kuzmenko in the 'laying' at night. On December 14, Kuzmenko was taken into custody for the murder of journalist Sheremet in 2016.
On May 21, 2020, it became known that the investigators had changed the suspects of Antonenko, Kuzmenko, and Dugar.
On May 22, 2020, the police completed the investigation and referred the murder case to the courts.
On August 11, 2020, Julia Kuzmenko was released from custody, and the measure against Kuzmenko was replaced with daily house arrest.
On August 4, 2021, the measure against Julia Kuzmenko was changed to nighttime house arrest. On August 27, Kuzmenko's electronic ankle monitor was removed.
