Valentin Ivanovich Landik - Ukrainian industrialist and politician. Doctor of Technical Sciences (1997), Lecturer (1999), Doctor of Economic Sciences (2003), Hero of Ukraine.

Founder of the Labor Party. One of the co-founders of the Party of Regions.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Chasov Yar in the Artemovsk district of Donetsk region. Graduate of Kramatorsk Industrial Institute with a focus on machines and technologies for pressure machining (qualification - mechanical engineer). Doctor of Technical Sciences. Doctor of Economic Sciences.

Business and Politics. From 1969 to 1970, he worked as a designer and senior engineer-technologist at the Sterovsky Metallurgical Plant (Lugansk region).

From 1971 to 1982, he was a foreman, senior technologist, deputy workshop director for production, and workshop director at the Artemovsk Machine-Building Plant Pobeda Truda. After that, he served for three more years as secretary of the plant's party committee.

In 1985, Landik was appointed director of the Donetsk Prodmash plant. And in 1987, he headed the Elektrobütmash production association, which was known throughout the Soviet Union for its 'Donbass' refrigerators. Since then, wherever Landik worked, he was connected with this company. In 1989, the plant for the production of household appliances became the first joint-stock company in the USSR. At that time, the general director received 15 percent of the shares. Over time, the company grew and transformed into a solid industrial group Nord, known for a wide range of household appliances under the same brand (NORD). The main shareholder of the group is Landik.

In 1993-1994, he held the position of Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Foreign Economic Affairs and Investments. After that, he was a member of the Ukrainian Parliament for four years.

From 1998 to 2002, he was again active at Nord and held various leadership positions in the group. In the summer of 2006, experts from the investment firm Dragon Capital included him in the list of the 30 richest Ukrainians published by the Korrespondent magazine. With a fortune of 177 million US dollars, the politician and businessman placed last, 30th, in this unofficial ranking.

Since 2002, Landik has been a member of the Ukrainian Parliament again (four consecutive terms). He is a member of the Party of Regions (was at the cradle of the establishment of the Party of Regions), a member of the Political Council, and deputy chairman of the party's political council. He was part of the Economic Policy Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

From December 2012 to 2014, he was a member of the VII session of the parliament, nominated by the Party of Regions in constituency No. 43 in the Donetsk region. Member of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.

One of 148 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine who signed an appeal to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, recognizing the events of the Ukrainian national liberation war from 1942 to 1944 as genocide against the Poles. This move was described by the first president of Ukraine, Leonid Kravchuk, as national treason.

Social Activities. 1997-2018 - President of the Ukrainian Table Tennis Federation.

Awards and Honors. Landik has been awarded the Orders of 'For Merit' II and III classes. In November 2006, on his 60th birthday, President Viktor Yushchenko awarded him the title Hero of Ukraine.

Family. Landik is married. The couple has two adult children - a daughter and a son.

Younger brother Vladimir Landik (1949) - businessman, former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (Party of Regions), due to a mistake by the registrar, the brothers have different surnames.
