Nikolaj Alexandrowitsch Lewtschenko - a pro-Russian Ukrainian politician, member of parliament of the VII Congress of Ukraine from the Party of Regions, Doctor of Historical Sciences. Known for his Ukrainianophobic views. Since 2014, he has been living in Moscow.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Donetsk. In 2001, he graduated from Donetsk National University (Qualification - Historian, History Teacher), in 2003 - from Donetsk Institute of Internal Affairs at Donetsk National University (Qualification - Lawyer). Doctor of Historical Sciences.

Career. He started his professional career in 2001 as a history teacher at School No. 72 in Donetsk.

From December 2003, he served as the Head of the Department of Public Relations of the Donetsk City Council.

In March 2004, he was elected Secretary of the Donetsk City Council of the IV Congress.

In April 2006, he was re-elected as Secretary of the Donetsk City Council of the V Congress.

He was elected as a member of the District Council in Donetsk of the III Congress in the Kuibyshchev District. Member of the Party of Regions.

From December 2012 to November 2014, he was a member of parliament of the VII Congress of Ukraine, running as a representative of the Party of Regions in single-mandate constituency No. 44 in Donetsk region. Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs.

On January 16, 2014, he voted for the 'Dictatorship Laws' - a package of anti-democratic laws that significantly restricted citizens' rights and freedom of expression.

In March 2014, Nikolaj Lewtschenko was elected chairman of the regional organization of the Party of Regions of Donetsk.

Since 2014, he has been living in Moscow.

On June 3, 2021, it was reported that Lewtschenko has returned to Ukraine.

Ukrainophobic Views. Known for statements about the inferiority of the Ukrainian language and for advocating a single state language in Ukraine - Russian.

Criminal Case. On January 16, 2015, the SBU declared Nikolaj Lewtschenko wanted, accused of committing a crime under paragraph 3 of Article 110 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code 'Deliberate Actions to Change the Borders of the Territory or the State Border of Ukraine in Violation of the Procedure Established by the Constitution of Ukraine'. In 2015, Lewtschenko was confronted with suspicion, the Kyiv Court of Appeals approved his arrest.

Later, the Prosecutor General's Office handed Lewtschenko's case to the National Police. In April 2020, the lead investigator decided to close the case. In February 2021, the National Police investigators decided to close the case, as reported by the SBU. Lewtschenko was removed from the wanted list.
