Nikolai Litvin

Date of Birth: 08.03.1961
Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Sloboda-Romaniwska in the Nowograd-Volynski district of the Shitomir region in a peasant family.
In 1984 he graduated with a gold medal from the Military Political Engineering School in Donetsk. In 1993 he graduated from the Military Political Academy named after Lenin and in 1998 from the National Defense Academy of Ukraine. In 1997 he completed the 'National Security of Ukraine' course at Harvard University (USA). Doctor of Military Sciences (2001).
Career. 1984-1990 - service in the 104th Guards Airborne Division in the positions of deputy company commander for political affairs and deputy head of department for political affairs.
1993-1996 - service in the National Guard of Ukraine as deputy regiment commander for educational work and deputy brigade commander for educational work.
1996-1998 - deputy head of the main department - commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine - Chief of Staff.
Since July 2001 - head of the main administration - commander of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
Since November 2001 - chairman of the State Committee for the Affairs of the State Border of Ukraine - commander of the Border Troops of Ukraine.
Since July 31, 2003 - chairman of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
On October 6, 2014, President Petro Poroshenko signed a decree on the dismissal of Litvin as head of the State Border Service of Ukraine.
Awards. Awarded the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky III (1999), II (2004), and I (2011) classes, as well as medals and badges from the authorities. Holds the rank of Army General.
Family ties. Married. Has a daughter.
Litvin's elder brother - Vladimir Litvin (born 1956) - a people's deputy, former head of the administration of President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the IV and VI convocation, leader of the People's Party and the Litvin Bloc. The younger brother, Peter Litvin (born 1967) - former commander of the Southern Operational Troops of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Army, Lieutenant General.
