Biography of Danilo Lubkivsky

Date of Birth: 18.08.1975

Place of Birth. Born in Lviv.

Education. In 1998, he graduated from the Faculty of International Relations at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. He speaks English and Czech.

Career. In July 1998, Danilo Lubkivsky was appointed Attaché of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine - Assistant to the Foreign Minister.

From November 1998 to February 2001 - Third, Second Secretary of the Secretariat of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Assistant to the Foreign Minister.

From 2001 to 2004 - Third, Second, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations, a member of the Security Council in 2001.

He participated in bilateral and multilateral negotiation processes in the Security Council and the United Nations, international forums of the EU, NATO, OSCE, GUAM, OSCE, and other international organizations.

From March 2004 to June 2006 - Advisor to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister.

From June 2006 to March 2010, Danilo Lubkivsky served as Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine, Head of the Main Department of Communication of the Administration of the President of Ukraine.

On January 28, 2008, he was appointed Advisor to the President of Ukraine.

From 2010 to 2014, Danilo Lubkivsky was actively involved.

On March 6, 2014, acting President Alexander Turchinov appointed Danilo Lubkivsky as Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine.

In September 2014, Lubkivsky resigned from his position. According to him, he expressed his discontent with the statement by Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin in Brussels regarding a compromise with Russia on the Association Agreement with the EU. At the end of the same year, Lubkivsky was dismissed by the government as Deputy Head of the Foreign Ministry.

From April 15, 2014, to January 13, 2015, he was a member of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, representative of Ukraine to the Executive Board of UNESCO.

From January 2015 to April 2016, he was a diplomatic advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the Advisory Board of the Open Ukraine Foundation.

In the 2019 parliamentary elections, he ran for People’s Deputy from the party 'Ukrainian Strategy Groysman', No. 22 on the list. The party failed to overcome the 5% threshold.

Awards. Danilo Lubkivsky is a holder of the title of a second-rank civil servant (2008). Authorized and unauthorized ambassador of the first class (2009). Awarded the Order of Daniel of Galicia (2009).

Family. Wife - Miroslava Barchuk. Son - Barchuk Ivan Nestor. Father, Roman Marianovich Lubkivsky, a writer, served as Ukraine's Ambassador to Czechoslovakia and then to the Czech Republic from 1997 to 2001. - Head of the Cultural Department of the Lviv Regional Administration. Older brother, Markian Lubkivsky.
