Marija Markus

Date of Birth: 05.01.1955

Marija Andrejewna Markus - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the IV term (2002-2006), Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (2006-2014, appointed by the Ukrainian Parliament). Doctor of Law.

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Bedevlya in the Tjatschiw district of the Transcarpathian Oblast. In 1983, she graduated from the Dzerzhinsky Law Institute in Kharkiv. Doctor of Law.

Career. Her professional career began in 1972: worker, machine operator, acting engineer for economic accounting.

1983-1994 - lawyer apprentice, lawyer, head of legal consultation in Tjatschiw.

1994-2002 - lawyer, chairman of the board of the territorial department of the Bar Association of the Transcarpathian Oblast.

2002-2004 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the IV term. Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Legal Support of Law Enforcement.

In August 2006, she was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine by the Ukrainian Parliament and took the oath of office on August 4, 2006.

On February 24, 2014, the Parliament prematurely terminated Markus' term and dismissed her from the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine for violation of the oath of office.

Author of the monograph 'The Principle of Universality in Ukrainian Criminal Procedure' and a number of scientific articles on criminal law, constitutional law, electoral law, and criminal procedure. Involved in the preparation of 158 bills, in particular, the draft Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Awards. Awarded with a certificate of honor from the Ukrainian Parliament. Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.

Family. Married, has a son and a daughter.
