Mykola Vasylovych Onyshchuk - Ukrainian politician and lawyer, people's deputy of Ukraine of the IV, V, and VI convocations, Minister of Justice of Ukraine (2007-2010).

Place of Birth. Education. He was born in the village of Dolynivka in the Zhytomyr region. In 1982, he graduated from the Faculty of Law of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Doctor of Law.

Career. He worked as a researcher, postgraduate at the Institute of State and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Doctor of Law. Author of more than 40 scientific papers on the legal status of economic relations. He speaks German and English. Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.

Onyshchuk was a people's deputy of Ukraine of the IV and V convocations. In 2002, he entered parliament as a member of the Industrialists and Entrepreneurs Party of Ukraine in 13th place on the list of the presidential block For a United Ukraine! Later, he was part of the group of industrialists and entrepreneurs in the united factions with the Workers' Party of Ukraine, the NDPU, and other deputy associations. He was deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on legal policy and authorized representative of the PPPU faction. He was a member of several ad hoc investigative committees, including investigations into scandalous matters (for example, investigations into the circumstances of potential financing of a refugee's escape from Moscow to London by Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky in 2004 during the presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko's election campaign).

In 2006, Onyshchuk was re-elected as a people's deputy from the Our Ukraine block to parliament (again with the lucky list number 13).

The politician also holds positions as Vice President of the World Congress of Ukrainian Jurists and Chairman of the Kyiv City Council of the Association of Lawyers of Ukraine. Since February 2005, he has been a member of the Board of the National Bank of Ukraine.

From December 2007 to March 2010 - Minister of Justice of Ukraine.

Member of the Presidium of the Our Ukraine party.

Since 2010 - President of the Institute for Legal Policy.

In the autumn of 2012, he ran for people's deputy in the Verkhovna Rada of the VII convocation from the Our Ukraine party (No. 18 on the list), but the party failed to overcome the 5% threshold.

Rector of the National School of Judges.

Since August 7, 2019 - Member of the Commission for Legal Reform.

Position. In the spring of 2007, he was the only representative of the PPPU group in the Our Ukraine faction to condemn the party leader Anatoliy Kinach's transition to the government of Viktor Yanukovych (as Minister of Economy) and refused to strengthen the ranks of the ruling crisis coalition.

Awards and Honors. Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. Awarded the Order of 'For Merit' of I-III degrees.

Family. Onyshchuk is married. He has three daughters.
