Larry Page was born on March 26, 1973, in Lansing, Michigan, USA, into a family of teachers: Carl Victor Page, professor of computer science at the University of Michigan, received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Michigan in 1965 when the discipline of computer science was established, described by BBC reporter Will Smile as 'a pioneer in computer science and artificial intelligence', and Gloria Page, professor of programming at the same university and at Lyman Briggs College.

Page attended Montessori School in Okemos, Michigan, from 1975 to 1979, now known as Montessori Radmoor School, in the community of Okemos, Michigan, and graduated from East Lansing High School in 1991. In middle school, he attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts as a saxophonist for two summers.
