Place of Birth. Education. Born in the city of Chernivtsi. In 2001, he graduated with honors from Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University with a degree in Law. In 2004, he graduated from the Ukrainian Academy of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine, specializing in Management of Foreign Economic Activity.
Career. January - December 2001 - Senior Legal Advisor at JSC State Savings Bank of Ukraine (Kyiv). In the same year, he co-founded the law firm Justicia Service in Chernivtsi with partners Volodymyr Hnatyshyn and Serhiy Stasiuk.
2001-2005 - Held managerial positions in the legal department of JSC Savings Bank of Ukraine (Kyiv).

On April 14, 2016, the parliament dismissed the acting Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and supported the appointment of Volodymyr Groysman as his successor. On that day, the Rada also approved the new government, in which Petrenko again took the office of Minister of Justice.

Views. Petrenko is against the cancellation of the Kharkiv agreements with Russia. On April 1, 2014, the Federation Council approved the federal law 'On the cancellation of agreements on the presence of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine', after which, among other things, Ukraine received gas at a discount of 100 USD. Petrenko stated that Ukraine would not withdraw from the agreements with Russia regarding the Black Sea Fleet, and that 'if Russia unilaterally raises the gas price, we will also calculate the price from our side, which is valid according to the existing formula, without considering this termination; let the Russians then try to prove their point in international courts'.
According to media reports, Petrenko is a long-time ally of former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. They became friends at university, where they both studied law.
Title. Doctor of Law (2014). On October 7, 2015, he was awarded the honorary title Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.
Income. According to the official declaration, Pawel Petrenko's total income in 2011 amounted to 916 thousand UAH. Of this, 755 thousand UAH were derived from the sale of real estate and movable property. He also owns three plots of land with areas of 29,000, 3,000, and 3,760 square meters, as well as an apartment with an area of 102.1 square meters. The deputy also owns two cars - a 2008 Toyota Sequoia and a 2007 Volkswagen Golf. As of 2011, he had a total of 3 million 512 thousand UAH in bank accounts, and the nominal value of securities amounted to 687 thousand UAH.
Family. Unmarried. No children. He has a mother and a sister. According to Oksana, his sister, Pawel was interested in chess. He practiced karate and boxing.
