Elena Leonidovna Kuchma, in the marriages Franchuk (until mid-2010) and Pinchuk - a Ukrainian entrepreneur and philanthropist, daughter of the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma. Head of the Elena Pinchuk Foundation, chairwoman of the board of the StarLightMedia group.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Dnipropetrovsk. Graduate of the Faculty of Economics of Dnipropetrovsk State University.
Career. From 1995 to 1996, she worked in the economic department of PrivatBank.
From 1997 to 2004 - deputy marketing manager of Kyivstar, one of the leading Ukrainian mobile operators.
Since 2003, she has headed the charity organization Anti-AIDS Foundation. Today it is the first and only private foundation in Ukraine to combat AIDS.
In 2009, she was appointed head of the StarLightMedia television group - the largest provider of television advertising in Ukraine.
About the Anti-AIDS Foundation (Elena Pinchuk Foundation). The stated goals include combating the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Ukraine, reducing the spread of the infection, and improving the quality of life for people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. The foundation assists orphanages where HIV-positive children live, conducts charitable and educational actions, and buys medical supplies at the foundation's expense for distribution to the target group.
Anti-AIDS became known to the public through active television advertising and several large-scale events - such as free concerts by Elton John in Kyiv (2007) and the band Queen and Paul Rogers in Kharkiv (2008). According to the foundation's data, donations of 1.5 million Hryvnia were raised at the first concert from VIP guests, and almost 800,000 Hryvnia at the second.
In 2010, Elena Pinchuk was appointed to a commission set up by the United Nations responsible for a 'preventive revolution' to prevent new cases of HIV/AIDS globally.
In 2017, the foundation changed its name to Elena Pinchuk Foundation, as its areas of work expanded to include projects supporting Ukrainian soldiers, educational lectures and trainings, and recent mentoring projects aimed at strengthening the role of women in society. In 2019, an educational center for youth on issues of sexual health and HIV/AIDS prevention - the Dialog hub - was opened.
Views and Ratings. In November 2007, she ranked 17th in the magazine 'Focus's list of 100 influential women of Ukraine. According to the authors, her significance is explained by 'social activities, marital status, the ownership of a part of the shares of the media conglomerate of Viktor Pinchuk (Fakty i kommentarii, New Channel, ICTV, STB, M1, several radio stations).' Since November 2009, Elena Pinchuk has been the chairwoman of the board of the StarLightMedia television group, which includes the channels ICTV, Novy, STB, and M1.
At the beginning of 2008, as reported by the media, a new record price for real estate in the UK was recorded with Elena Franchuk's involvement. According to The Evening Standard, she bought a five-story Victorian villa in Kensington for 80 million pounds. The previous record was held by steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, who paid 67 million pounds for his property.
Family Ties. Elena Pinchuk is the daughter of the second president of Ukraine, Leonid Kuchma. Married. Her husband is Viktor Pinchuk, a prominent businessman and philanthropist, billionaire, co-owner of the Interpipe group, founder of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, and co-founder of the Anti-AIDS Foundation (Elena Pinchuk Foundation). With Viktor Pinchuk, she has two daughters (born in 2003 and 2011). From her first marriage, she has a son Roman (born in 1991).
Elena's first husband was Igor Franchuk, former head of the Chernomorneftegaz company and son of the former Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Anatoli Franchuk.
