On December 21, 1984, he was baptized at St. George's Chapel in Windsor by the Archbishop of Canterbury, receiving the name Henry Charles Albert David Mountbatten-Windsor. From early childhood, he has been known by the name Harry, which is also used in official sources. He is currently fifth in line to the throne of the United Kingdom.
Princess Diana insisted that her children should not be educated in isolation but attend a school where they could interact with classmates. Harry first attended the Manor Kindergarten, and in September 1987 he began attending the Wetherby School in London, and since 1992 he joined Prince William and became a student at Ludgrove School in Berkshire, where he spent the next five years.
On August 31, 1997, when he was 12 years old, his mother Princess Diana died in a car accident in Paris. At her funeral, the brothers walked behind her coffin.
At the age of 17, the prince gained a reputation in the British press as a 'wild child' due to his use of marijuana and alcohol.
In September 1998, he entered Eton College, which he graduated from in June 2003 with a poor grade in geography. Military Service. In 2005, he was accepted into the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, successfully completing a 44-week training course and being commissioned as a Second Lieutenant into the Blues and Royals Regiment of the Household Cavalry in April 2006.
In late April 2007, it was announced that the prince was to be sent to Iraq, but by May, it was decided to send him to Afghanistan. From December 2007 to February 2008, he served in Helmand Province as a forward air observer.
On April 16, 2011, he was promoted to Captain in the Army Air Corps.
From September 7, 2012, until January 2013, he served at Camp Bastion in southern Afghanistan, participating in regular combat operations and reportedly risking his life to carry out his combat missions, according to British tabloids citing sources close to the prince.
On January 21, 2013, it was announced that Harry was returning home after a 20-week deployment in Afghanistan, where he served as a co-pilot/gunner of an Apache aircraft. On July 8, 2013, the Ministry of Defence announced that Harry had successfully completed an Apache pilot qualification.
On January 17, 2014, the Ministry of Defence announced that Harry had completed his service in the 3rd Regiment Army Air Corps.
In 2014, he founded the Invictus Games - an international multi-sport competition for former military personnel who had to leave service due to serious injuries or wounds.
