Career. The professional career began as a foreman at the Kommunarskstroy Trust.
1985-1987 - First Secretary of the Kommunarsk District Committee of the Komsomol.
1989-1990 - Consultant of the House of Political Education of the Voroshilovgrad Regional Committee of the CPU, Secretary of the Voroshilovgrad Regional Komsomol.
1990-2001 - General Director of LLC Sputnik - Lugansk, JSC Druzhba.
1990-2001 - Secretary of the City Council of Luhansk.
2002-2005 - Deputy Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration.
2005-2006 - President of the Association of Small and Medium Enterprises New Time.
2006-2010 - Deputy, First Deputy Head of the Luhansk Regional Council.
Since March 19, 2010 - Head of the Luhansk Regional Council.
On November 11, 2010, he was appointed Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration by order of the Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
On March 2, 2014, he was dismissed as Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration by order of the acting President Alexander Turchynov, and Mikhail Bolotskikh was appointed in his place.
He was elected a deputy of the third council of the city of Luhansk, founded the non-profit organization 'Our Home - Luhansk' and the youth exchange 'Sputnik'.
