Alexander Prognimak

Aleksandr Vladimirovich Prognimak is a Ukrainian politician, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council IV, V., head of the Department for the Protection of the Natural Environment in Kyiv (2006-2010), collector, patron.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Donetsk in a mining family. Graduated from the Kyiv Suvorov Military School, the Higher Military Engineering and Communication School. From 1986 to 1987, he studied at the Military Academy.
Career. 1975-1992 - served in the Armed Forces in officer positions in the military districts of Odessa, Turkestan, the Far East, and Kyiv. From January 1980 to December 1981 - in special forces in Afghanistan. He completed his service with the rank of colonel in 1992.
From 1995 to 2006, he was involved in entrepreneurial activities, in the 1990s he united several companies in the association 'Forum'.
In 2006 he was appointed Deputy Head of the Department for Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Shevchenkivskyi Rayon District Administration (Kyiv).
From December 2006 to September 2010 - Head of the State Authority for the Protection of the Natural Environment in Kyiv.
Political Activities. Chairman of the Green Party.
2002-2006, 2006-2008 - Deputy of the Kyiv City Council.
2006-2008 - Chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Kyiv City Council for Culture and Information Policy, member of the Public Council of the Kyiv City Administration for Culture, Arts, and Heritage Protection, member of the Committee for Designations and Memorials of the Kyiv City Administration.
Since 2006, a member of the Russian-Ukrainian Consultative Council.
Awards. Doctor of Philosophy in Law. Member of the National Writers' Union of Ukraine. Awarded the Order of Saint Vladimir III class, the Badge of Merit, and other state awards.
Patronage. Alexander Prognimak is the founder of the 'Alex Art Prize', active in the field of culture, art, and education. Together with Sergei Taruta, he founded the 'Art-Invest' fund, which deals with the restitution of cultural property and art collections to Ukraine.
He has built a church in Chapayivka (Kyiv) according to his own designs.
Hobbies. Collects antiques: old geographical and astronomical maps, books, icons, paintings. The icon collection of Alexander Prognimak (600 icons) is considered by experts to be a national treasure. The book collection (over 10,000 books, including rarities like the 'Apostle' by Ivan Fedorov, the Ostrouizka Bible, the Bible of Zosima, the 'Trebnik' by Petro Mohyla) is regarded as one of the largest in Ukraine.
In May 2009, the collector opened the cultural and educational center 'Alex Art House' - galleries of private collections and a museum of old books, where the most valuable exhibits of his collections are displayed.
Author of the book 'State and Government', several plays.
Family. Two sons - Alexander and Alexey.
