Jennifer Rene (Jen) Psaki is an American political advisor. Director of Communications for the White House (2009-2011, 2015-2017), Official Spokesperson of the US Department of State (2013-2015). Press Secretary of the White House (November 2020 - May 2022).

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Stamford, Connecticut. Jen Psaki has Greek and Polish roots. In 2000, she graduated from Wilhelmina and Maria College. She was a member of the student women's organization Chi Omega and was active in backstroke swimming.

Career. Jennifer Psaki began her political career in 2001, participating in the re-election campaign of Democratic candidates in Iowa Tom Harkin and Tom Vilsack.

In 2004, Psaki became Deputy Press Secretary in the campaign of John Kerry.

From 2005 to 2006, she was PR Director for Congressman Joseph Crowley and local Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

During the 2008 presidential campaign, Jennifer Psaki was a traveling press secretary for Senator Barack Obama. After Obama's electoral victory, Psaki followed him to the White House as Press Secretary (January 20, 2009) and later became the Director (December 19, 2009).

Jennifer Psaki left this position on September 22, 2011, to work as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the PR department of the Global Strategy Group in Washington.

In 2012, Psaki returned to the 2012 campaign as Press Secretary for Barack Obama.

On February 11, 2013, Jennifer Psaki was appointed Official Spokesperson of the US Department of State.

As of April 1, 2015, Psaki moved to the White House, where she succeeded Jennifer Palmieri as head of the PR department. In her old position at the State Department, she was succeeded by John Kirby.

In January 2017, after Donald Trump's election victory, Jennifer Psaki left her post.

On February 7, 2017, Psaki began working as a political commentator for the TV channel CNN.

On November 30, 2020, it was announced that the elected President of the USA Joe Biden would appoint Jennifer Psaki as Press Secretary of the White House. Since January 20, 2021, she has been the Press Secretary of the White House.

On May 13, 2022, Jen Psaki left her position as White House Representative. Psaki moved to the TV channel MSNBC.

Views. It should be noted that since March 2014, Jennifer Psaki has regularly articulated her department's perspective on events in Ukraine as an official representative of the US State Department. Her statements have caused a stir. For example, Jennifer Psaki condemned the unrest outside the Russian embassy in Kyiv at a press conference on June 16 and defended the acting Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia, who cited a popular football choreography against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Russian media and users of the Runet have often expressed doubts about Psaki's competence and objectivity. In response, she stated that she is a victim of Russian propaganda, compared herself to the new democratic Ukraine, and criticized Russia for the way it conducts its information war. In response to the publication of fabricated news about herself, Jennifer Psaki stated that fake news and malicious personal attacks against her indicate the weakness of the Russian side's position.

Family. Her father, James Psaki, hails from the Greek province of Messenia and was a builder of multi-family houses in the Groton group of development companies in Connecticut, and is now retired. Her mother, Elin Midway, is a psychotherapist who runs a private practice in Greenwich.

Since 2010, Jennifer Psaki has been married to Gregory Mecher. Daughter Genevieve Grace Mecher (born July 2015).
