Date of Birth: 06.02.1954

Place of Birth. Education. Born in the village of Serhiyivka, Sloviansk District, Donetsk Region. In 1980, he graduated from the Kharkiv Law Institute. Doctor of Law.

Career. After school and military service, he worked in one of the companies in Kramatorsk.

In 1980, he began working as an investigator, later becoming the Deputy Prosecutor General of Kramatorsk.

1983-1986 - Head of the Department of Administrative Bodies of the City Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in Kramatorsk.

Starting from 1986 - Prosecutor General of Kramatorsk, from 1997 - first Deputy Prosecutor General of Donetsk Region.

1998-2003 - Prosecutor General of Donetsk Region, member of the Collegium of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

Since November 2003 - Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Gennadiy Vasiliev. Responsible for organizing the supervision of law enforcement bodies over compliance with laws in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Tax Militia and special units for combating organized crime and corruption, the State Customs Service, and border troops. In December 2004, he resigned at his own request.

Since late 2006 - Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Alexander Medvedko. Oversaw the supervision of law enforcement agencies, operational investigative activities, investigations, and preliminary inquiries. In June 2010, he was appointed first Deputy Prosecutor General (in place of Sergei Vinokurov, who went to the Constitutional Court).

On November 4, 2010, he was appointed Prosecutor General of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada at the suggestion of President Viktor Yanukovych.

On February 22, 2014, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed no confidence in Prosecutor General Pshonka. The relevant decision states that his activities 'led to mass violations of the constitutional rights and freedoms of man and citizen, to dozens of killed and hundreds of injured citizens.' Oleg Machnizkyi was appointed acting Prosecutor General in place of Pshonka.

Sanctions. On March 5, 2014, the Council of the European Union blocked the funds of Viktor Yanukovych, who was removed from the office of the President of Ukraine by the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander and Viktor, former Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov and his son Alexey, brothers Andrei and Serhii Klyuev, former Prosecutor General Viktor Pshonka and his son Artem, businessman Sergei Kurchenko - a total of 17 persons from the circle of former officials and associates of former President Yanukovych, suspected of the illegal use of state funds.'

Awards. State Councillor of the Justice Council, 1st Class. Honored Lawyer of Ukraine. Honorary employee of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

Connections. His son Artem Pshonka (1976) - Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from the Party of Regions of the V-VI Convocations. According to media reports, he is friends with former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych (since their time in Donetsk).
