<p><b>Galina Pundik</b> - Ukrainian saber fencer, Olympic champion 2008 in the team competition, World Champion (2009, 2013) and European Champion (2009, 2010) in the team competition. Honored Master of Sports.</p><p><b>Place of Birth. Education.</b> Born in the village of Chotyrboky in the Chmelnytskyi Oblast. Graduate of the National University of Chmelnytskyi.<b></b></p><p><b>General Information.</b> Height - 163 cm, Weight - 54 kg.</p><p>Representative of the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving soldier of the VSU.</p><p>Coach - Valeriy Schturbabin, coach-teacher of the VSU. First coach - Olha Schturbabina.</p><p><b>Honors.</b> Honored Master of Sports.</p><p>World and European Championships 2007 - 2nd place in the team competition.</p><p>World Championships 2007 and 2008 among juniors - 1st place in the team competition.</p><p>Champion of the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. The Ukrainian team in the final with Yelena Khomrova, Olha Charhan, Olha Shovnyr, and Galina Pundik defeated the hosts of the Olympic Games, the Chinese team, with a score of 45:44. The Ukrainian women were able to catch up from more than a 10-point deficit during the competition.</p><p>On the way to the final, the Ukrainian team defeated the Russian team with a score of 45:34 and then beat the strong USA team in the semifinals (45:39), which eventually won bronze.</p><p>Bronze medal at the European Championship 2009 in the individual competition.</p><p>Gold medal at the World Championship 2009 in the team competition.</p><p>Silver medal at the World Championship 2010 in the team competition.</p><p>In 2011, she became the Vice World Champion in the team competition. At the European Championship in Sheffield, Galina won the silver medal in the team competition and the bronze medal in the individual competition.
In 2012, she won silver medals at the World and European Championships in the team competition. She did not participate in the London Olympic Games, as the women's saber team was not included in the program of these games and did not obtain a license in the individual competitions.
In 2014, she placed 3rd in the team competition of the <span>European Championship.</span>
Galina Pundik ended her sports career and moved to the USA, where she works as an assistant fencing coach at the university and trains children.
