Yaroslav Mykhailovych Romanyuk - Ukrainian lawyer, Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine (2013-2017). Doctor of Law, Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Gai-Detkovetske, Brodivsky District, Lviv Oblast. In 1988, he graduated from the law faculty of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv (in the field of 'Law'). Doctor of Law.
Career. He began his professional career in 1980. After graduation, he held positions as an Assistant District Attorney, District Attorney Investigator, Senior Assistant District Attorney in the Busk District, Lviv Oblast.
Since 1995 - Judge at the Brodivsky District Court, Lviv Oblast.
Since 2003 - Judge at the Lviv Appeals Court.
Since July 2005 - Judge at the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
In December 2011, he was elected as the first Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine (Vasyl Onopenko).
On May 17, 2013, he was elected Chairman of the Supreme Court of Ukraine at a Plenary Session of the Supreme Court.
In November 2017, Yaroslav Romanyuk submitted his resignation due to legislative changes regarding the nomination of judges to the Supreme Court of Ukraine. On December 14, 2017, he was dismissed from his position as Chairman of the Supreme Court by the High Council of Justice.
He participated in the selection round for the position in the newly established Supreme Court of Ukraine.
Awards. He has received the highest qualification category and honors in the legal profession - Ukraine (2008).
