European Championship 2006 - 1st place in team competition.

Champion of the XXIX Olympic Games in Beijing 2008. In the final of the competition, Viktor Ruban defeated the Korean Park Kyun Mo with 113:112. He began the tournament path with a victory over the Egyptian Meged Youssef - 111:96. In the 1/16 finals, he was more successful than the Australian Michael Naray - 115:105. In the 1/8 finals, he defeated the Pole Jacek Procek - 114:108. In the quarter-finals, he defeated the Japanese Ryuichi Moriya - 115:106. And in the semi-finals, he defeated the Russian Bair Badenov - 112:112 (Tiebreak - 20:18).
