Rawil Safowitsch Safiullin - Ukrainian politician and sports official, member of the Ukrainian Parliament in the IV, V, and VI electoral periods. Member of the Party of Regions. Minister of Family, Youth, and Sports (2010), Minister of Youth and Sports (2013-2014).
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Makejewka, Donetsk Oblast. In 1978, he graduated from the Donetsk Medical Institute with a specialization as a doctor-hygienist, epidemiologist.
Career. 1977-1978 - nurse in the neurology department of City Hospital No. 18 in Donetsk.
1978-1979 - doctor at the Sanepid station in Rivne.
1979-1990 - doctor at the Sanepid station of the Hornjatschkyj district in Makejewka, head of the centralized labor and hygiene department of the municipal SES.
1990-1993 - head of the labor hygiene department, deputy head of the 'Health and Labor' department of the state territorial association for the protection and strengthening of public health (Makejewka), deputy of the Central City Council.
1993-1994 - deputy trade director of the small enterprise Monolit.
1994-2000 - First Vice President of the Shakhtar Football Club (Donetsk).
Since 2000 - President of the Professional Football League of Ukraine (PFL), since 2002 on a non-profit basis (due to his election as a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine), since December 2008 - Honorary President. This organization was established in 1996 to organize and conduct competitions among domestic amateur teams. The first president of the PFL was the former president of the Football Federation of Ukraine, Hryhorij Surkis.
From December 2008 - Honorary President of the Professional Football League of Ukraine.
Since 2002 - three-time deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament (IV, V, and VI electoral periods). Member of the Party of Regions and its faction in Parliament. In the first two deputy cycles, he held the position of First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Youth Policy, Physical Culture, Sports, and Tourism. In the Parliament of the VI electoral period - Chairman of the Subcommittee on Tourism Development of the same committee.
From March to December 2010 - Minister of Family, Youth, and Sports. He lost his position due to an initiated administrative reform.
From December 23, 2010 - Head of the State Service for Youth and Sports (subordinate to the Ministry of Education, Science, Youth, and Sports).
On February 28, 2013, President Viktor Yanukovych reorganized the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports, as well as the State Service for Youth and Sports and established the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Safiullin was appointed head of the latter.
On February 27, 2014, he was dismissed as Minister by the Parliament and the leader of Automaidan, Dmytro Bulatov, (in the government of Arsenij Yatsenyuk) was appointed.
Safiullin is a former First Vice President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine (President - Serhij Bubka).
Awards. Honored Sports Worker of Ukraine.
Family. His wife Irina Petrovna (born 1955) is a housewife. The couple has a daughter, Marijam (born 1990).
