Martin Sajdik

Martin Sajdik - Austrian diplomat, Permanent Representative of Austria to the United Nations since 2012. Since June 22, 2015, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in the Trilateral Contact Group for the implementation of the peace plan in Eastern Ukraine.

Place of Birth. Education. Born on January 14, 1949, in Vienna. Studied law at the University of Vienna (1967-1971), international law at Moscow State University (1972-1973), and international relations at Johns Hopkins University (1973-1974).

He speaks fluent English, Russian, French, and Italian.

Career. In 1975, he entered the Austrian diplomatic service and held various positions in different departments of the Foreign Ministry until 1978.

From 1978 to 1980, he was Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Austria to the United Nations in Geneva.

From 1980 to 1985, he worked as an advisor and press attaché at the Austrian Embassy in Moscow.

From 1986 to 1987, he headed the press department of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe in Vienna.

From 1987 to 1989, he headed the office of the Austrian bank Creditanstalt-Bankverein in Moscow.

From 1989 to 1991, he was an advisor and Deputy Head of Mission at the Austrian Embassy in Moscow.

From 1991 to 1994, he worked as the Director for International Business at the Austrian construction company Maculan Group in Maculan Holding. He was also a member of the board of Maculan International GmbH and Managing Director of a joint venture in Yakutia. From 1994 to 1997, he headed the property management department.

From 2003 to 2007, Sajdik was Director General for Economic Affairs and European Integration at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1997 to 2003, he was head of the department for EU enlargement, trade, trade relations outside the EU, and Central Asia.

Since 2007, Sajdik has been Austria's ambassador to China, Mongolia, and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Since June 22, 2015, Sajdik has been the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in the Trilateral Contact Group for the implementation of the peace plan in Eastern Ukraine.

Family. Married, four children.
