Dmitrij Salamatin

Date of Birth: 26.04.1965
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Karaganda (Kazakhstan). In 1989, he graduated from the Mining Faculty of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute with a specialization in 'Technology and Integrated Mechanization of Underground Mining of Mineral Raw Material Deposits'. In 1991, he completed refresher courses at the Moscow Mining Institute specializing in 'Economic Engineering'.
Career. 1983-1985 - Military service. He began his professional activity in May 1985 at the Karaganda Coal Production Association as a miner in the Kussembayev shaft's face.
1989-1991 - Mine manager of the extraction area of the 'Sokursk' and 'Kussembayev' shafts (Karaganda).
1991-1993 - Advisor to the Joint Venture SITEK (Moscow).
1993-1994 - Trade Director of LLC Russkoye Toplivo (Moscow).
1995-1996 - Senior Expert of JSC ROL (Moscow).
1996-1997 - Chief Consultant of Milder International Ltd. (Moscow).
Since 1998 - Advisor to the President of the International Mining Congress for Cooperation with Ukraine (on a voluntary basis). Since April 1999, a permanent resident in Ukraine.
2006-2007 - Deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament of the 5th convocation from the Party of Regions (No. 88 on the electoral list). First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Science and Education.
From November 2007 to February 2011 - Deputy of the Ukrainian Parliament of the 6th convocation from the Party of Regions (No. 86 on the list). Member of the Budget Committee.
In June 2010, he was appointed General Director of the State Company Ukrspetsexport by the decree of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
On January 4, 2011, he was appointed General Director of the State Concern Ukroboronprom by the decree of President Viktor Yanukovych, created by the government decision of December 29, 2010.
On February 8, 2012, with the decree of Yanukovych, he was appointed Minister of Defense of Ukraine (replacing the then incumbent Mychajlo Jezhel). Dismissed on December 24, 2012.
From December 25, 2012, to February 2014 - Advisor to Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.
Since the end of 2014 - during the events of Euromaidan - he has been living in Russia.
Investigation. In January 2019, the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Yuriy Lutsenko, announced that Dmitry Salamatin is accused of committing treason in favor of the Russian Federation and undermining Ukraine's defense capability. The damage caused by him was estimated by the Prosecutor General's Office at 560 million US dollars. Dmitry Salamatin is evading investigation and is wanted.
On June 24, 2020, the State Bureau of Investigation reported that Dmitry Salamatin is suspected of treason.
On November 8, 2021, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine decided in absentia to arrest Dmitry Salamatin.
Family. Divorced. Sons Dmitri (1994), Oleg (1996), Stepan (2002). Salamatin's father-in-law is the former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, Oleg Soskowez (1993-1996).
