Salman was born on December 31, 1935, in Riyadh and was the 25th son of Ibn Saud and Hassa. He received his primary education at the Princes' School in Riyadh, where he studied religion and modern science. At the age of 18, he was appointed Representative and Emir of Riyadh and later became the Governor of Riyadh Province, where he made a significant contribution to the development of the city.
In February 1963, Salman was appointed Governor of Riyadh Province and held this position for 48 years. Under his leadership, Riyadh was transformed from a regular town into a major metropolis. He also actively promoted tourism and attracted investment to the country.
In November 2011, Prince Salman was appointed Minister of Defense. Following the death of his brother, King Abdullah, he became King of Saudi Arabia on January 23, 2015. He has also been married three times and has many children.
