Date of Birth: 04.18.1959

Place of Birth. Education. Born in Donetsk. In 1987 she graduated from the law faculty of Altai State University.

Career. She began her professional career in 1976. She worked as an electrician, personnel inspector, and statistician in Donetsk.

1985-1987 - Legal advisor of the Donetsk Lenin Metallurgical Plant.

1987-1989 - Intern at the Prosecutor's Office, Deputy Prosecutor of the Lenin District in Donetsk.

1990-1996 - Deputy Prosecutor of Donetsk, Chief Deputy Prosecutor of Donetsk Oblast.

1996-2002 - Judge at the Lenin District Court in Donetsk.

2002-2006 - Judge at the Donetsk Oblast Court of Appeal.

2006-2010 - Judge, First Deputy Chair of the Donetsk Appellate Administrative Court.

At the X Congress of Judges of Ukraine in September 2010, she was appointed as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. She took the oath of office on September 21, 2010.

On May 14, 2019, a meeting of the judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine was held, during which the judges made a decision to express distrust towards the chairman of the Constitutional Court, Stanislav Shevchuk, to dismiss him, and to appoint Natalia Shaptala as the chairwoman of the Constitutional Court.

On September 17, 2019, Natalia Shaptala was dismissed from her position as chairwoman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine based on her resignation request in accordance with paragraph 4, part 2 of article 149-1 of the Constitution of Ukraine.

Research area. Specialist in administrative and criminal law. She holds a PhD in law.

Research publications. Regularly publishes scientific articles in the field of administrative and criminal law. She is a co-author of the textbook 'Constitutional Law of Ukraine' and scientific and practical comments on the budget and tax laws of Ukraine.

Family. Married, two sons.
