Pavlo Sheremeta

Place of Birth. Education. Born on May 23, 1971, in Lviv. Graduated from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv with a degree in Economic Theory. In 1994, he completed the Management program at the International Management Center (Budapest) and obtained an MBA from Emory University Business School (Atlanta, USA) in 1995. Additionally, he completed management development programs at Harvard Business School, the Blue Ocean Strategy Institute at Insead Business School, China Europe International Business School, and the J. Welsh Leadership Development Center at GE.
Career. Pavlo Sheremeta was the first dean of the Kyiv-Mohyla Business School (KMBS) and held this position from 1999 to 2008. In 2006, he was listed among the Top 15 managers in Ukraine by Partner magazine.
From 2006 to 2010, he served as Vice President of the Central and Eastern European Management Development Association (CEEMAN), an organization with 200 institutional members from 50 countries, and is today an honorary member of its Board of Directors. From 2008 to 2011, he was President and Senior Advisor of the Blue Ocean Strategy Institute in Malaysia - a consulting company founded by Professor Chan Kim and the Government of Malaysia.
Pavlo Sheremeta was also the director of the MBA program at the International Management Institute (MIM-Kyiv). He was an advisor to Viktor Pinzenik and served as an external advisor to the Mayor of Lviv on development strategy issues. From November 2012 to February 2014, he was President of the Kyiv School of Economics.
Today, Sheremeta is the Deputy Chair of the Global Council on Ukraine at the World Economic Forum. He taught strategy and leadership at leading business schools in Eastern Europe and Asia. He hosted the economic program 'Free People' on the TVi channel and was a columnist for Forbes Ukraine. He is a member of the advisory board of Lviv Business School UCU (LvBS).
From February 27 to September 2, 2014, Pavlo Sheremeta was the Minister of Economic Development and Trade in the government of Arseniy Yatsenyuk. The reason for his resignation was his opposition to the procedure for approving the candidate for the Trade Representative of Ukraine by the government.
Since 2017, he has been the Managing Partner of the company 'Прорив.in.ua'.
Views and Assessments. His goal as a minister was to create conditions for an economic breakthrough. Main priorities: transparent law on public procurement, deregulation of the economy, and improvement of human capital. He declined official vehicles and uses public transportation in the capital.
Family. Married to Oksana Sheremeta, he raises two daughters - Olesya and Sofia.
