On October 4, 2022, Kyrill Schewtschenko submitted his resignation as chairman of the National Bank for health reasons. On October 6, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed Kyrill Schewtschenko from his position as chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine.

Suspicion of NABU and SAPO. On October 6, 2022, NABU and SAPO announced that Kyrill Schewtschenko and four other individuals were suspected of committing illegal acts during his tenure as head of Ukrgasbank, which resulted in a loss of more than 206 million UAH. Investigations found that officials from Ukrgasbank from 2014 to 2019 entered into fictitious contracts with individuals and legal entities that acted as intermediaries in raising funds for large enterprises and state institutions and companies in favor of Ukrgasbank and received funds for providing 'intermediary services'.

On October 24, 2022, NABU put Kyrill Schewtschenko on the wanted list.

On December 7, 2022, the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court provisionally detained Kyrill Schewtschenko.
