Stanislaw Vladimirovich Shevchuk - former chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, lawyer, Doctor of Juridical Sciences, professor of General Legal Theory and Constitutional Law at the Faculty of Law of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, corresponding member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, ad-hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights.

Place of birth. Education. Born on June 11, 1969, in Kharkiv into a family of officials. In 1986, he graduated from secondary school No. 93 in the October district of Kharkiv with a gold medal. From 1987 to 1989, he served in the military.

In 1993, he graduated from the Ukrainian Legal Academy (now the National University 'Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University') with honors and completed his postgraduate studies at this academy in the field 12.00.01 (Theory and History of State and Law, History of Political and Legal Doctrines), where he worked as an assistant in the Department of Theory of State and Law from 1996 to 1997.

In 1997, he defended his candidate dissertation on the topic of 'Delegation of State Powers,' and in 2008 - his doctoral dissertation in the field of legal sciences on the topic 'General Theoretical Problems of the Normativity of Judicial Acts.'

Doctor of Juridical Sciences, professor, corresponding member of the NAS of Ukraine.

Career: From 1997 to 2000, scientific advisor to the judge at the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

From 2000 to 2003, director of the Center for Comparative Law and its legal successor, the Center for European and Comparative Law of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.

From 2004 to 2009, professor at the Department of Public Law of the International Solomon University (Kyiv).

Since 2009, professor at the Department of General Legal Theory and Constitutional Law of the National University 'Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.'

In 2010, he was elected as a corresponding member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine at the Academy's General Assembly.

He has international experience, particularly as a legal expert for the UN mission in Tajikistan, the World Bank, and the coordinator of OSCE projects in Ukraine. He conducted scientific research and internships at Duke University (USA), the University of Chicago (USA), the University of Birmingham (UK), and the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) on issues of comparative constitutional law, international and European law, human rights, and legal philosophy. He completed internships on issues of European integration and human rights at the Office of the Lord Chancellor and the representative of the UK at the European Court of Human Rights.

He is a member of the scientific and advisory councils of the Supreme Court of Ukraine and the Supreme Administrative Court of Ukraine, as well as a member of the Scientific and Methodological Council of the National School of Judges of Ukraine.

In 2009 and since 2012 - ad-hoc judge at the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine. Founder of the Ukrainian Bar Association, member of the Ukrainian Association for International Law.

In March 2014, he was appointed by the Ukrainian parliament as a judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. He took his oath of office on March 13, 2014.

On February 21, 2018, Stanislaw Shevchuk was elected chairman of the Constitutional Court at a special plenary session of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.

Research areas: Theory of delegation of state powers, analysis of the role of the court in the development of law in the world and in Ukraine, normativity of judicial acts, theory of judicial precedent, problems of constitutional jurisdiction, European law in human rights issues, comparative legal research, development of methodologies for adapting Ukrainian law to EU law.

Scientific publications. Author of more than 120 scientific publications on issues of state theory and law, constitutional law, human rights, including 12 monographs (6 individual publications), namely: 'Foundations of Constitutional Jurisprudence' (2001), 'Comparative Precedent Law on Human Rights' (2002), 'Freedom of Speech' (2005), 'Freedom of Speech: The Practice of the European Court of Human Rights in Comparison' (2005), 'Judicial Protection of Human Rights: The Practice of the European Court of Human Rights in the Context of Western Legal Tradition' (2006), 'Judicial Legal Regulation: Global Experiences and Perspectives in Ukraine' (2007), 'Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms in the Practice of Courts of Ukraine' (2008), 'International Judicial Proceedings' (2009), as well as co-author of textbooks 'History of Doctrines of State and Law' (2008), 'Theory of State and Law' (2014).

Declaration. According to the electronic declaration for the year 2016, Stanislaw Shevchuk received a salary at the Constitutional Court and at the National University 'Kyiv-Mohyla Academy - 393450 UAH. In Shevchuk's declaration, the funds of his wife Galina - 390 thousand UAH in her private bank account and 250 thousand UAH in cash were indicated. His wife also received a salary of 361665 UAH and income from entrepreneurial activity of 316650 UAH.

Stanislaw Shevchuk and his wife own a 70.8 square meter apartment in Kyiv. Additionally, Stanislaw Shevchuk and his wife jointly own a 2013 Toyota Corolla. His wife Galina owns a 720 square meter plot of land and a house of 130 square meters in the Bohorodchany district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. Shevchuk rents a 557 square meter residential house in Kyiv from the 'Puscha-Voditsa' recreation facility of the State Administration.

Family. Married, one son.
