Beata Maria Szydło - Polish politician, former Prime Minister of Poland.

Place of Birth. Education. Born on April 15, 1963, in Oświęcim, she grew up near the town of Brzeszcze, where her father worked as a miner.

In 1989, she graduated from the ethnographic institute of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków.

From 1989 to 1995, she was a doctoral student at the Institute of Philosophy and History of the Jagiellonian University.

In 1997, she completed postgraduate studies in cultural management at the Warsaw School of Economics, and in 2001, she completed postgraduate studies in territorial management at the Krakow University of Economics.

Career. From 1987 to 1995, she worked as an assistant at the Historical Museum of Kraków and then moved to the cultural center in Libiąż.

From 1997 to 1998, she was the director of the cultural center in Brzeszcze.

Political Career. In 1998, she was elected mayor of Brzeszcze, where she worked until 2005. She was also a member of the council of the Oświęcim County from 1998 to 2002.

In 2004, she became vice-president of the Volunteer Fire Department of Brzeszcze.

In 2005, she joined the 'Law and Justice' party (PiS), became a member of the Sejm, and was re-elected in 2007 and 2011.

From 2010 to deputy party leader of the 'Law and Justice' party. Since September 2014, treasurer of the PiS.

In the parliamentary elections on October 25, 2015, 'Law and Justice' received the majority, and Beata Szydło, who was nominated as Prime Minister of Poland, formed the government.

On December 7, 2017, the Prime Minister of Poland, Beata Szydło, announced her resignation. On December 8, Polish President Andrzej Duda accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Beata Szydło and appointed Mateusz Morawiecki as Prime Minister. In the government that replaced her, Mateusz Morawiecki was appointed Deputy Prime Minister.

In 2019, she participated in the elections to the European Parliament and was elected as a deputy. On June 3, 2019, she resigned from her position as Deputy Prime Minister due to her election to the European Parliament.

Family. Since 1987, she has been married to Stanisław Karczewski, and they have three children.
