Scandal. At the end of November, four deputies of the BYuT faction revealed information that one of the deputy prosecutors general had acquired a property worth 550,000 euros at a resort in Germany. The parliamentarians demanded an investigation and the resignation of the official. The response of the 'scandal-causer' - Deputy Head of the Prosecutor General's Office Alexander Schinalski - followed immediately: The next day, he explained why he bought an apartment in Baden-Baden. 'In 1991, I had an accident, spent almost a year in the hospital... Last year I was operated on in Baden-Baden. My right leg is half metallic... They have prosthetized part of my leg. Since then I have often been there. Baden-Baden is a place where thermal springs treat diseases of the musculoskeletal system... A day in a hotel in Baden-Baden costs 300 euros,' he said. The three-room apartment was reportedly partially purchased with saved money, and part of the money was borrowed.

However, the BYuT's explanation did not satisfy the deputies. They found out that Alexander Schinalski may also have connections to apartments in Nice, which are officially owned by his wife's company Galina. According to the deputies, the acquired real estate could be worth around 1 million euros. The deputies urged the Prosecutor General to ask his deputy to resign. However, Alexander Medvedko did not have to do that. Alexander Schinalski himself submitted a resignation request. Later, Alexander Medvedko stated that the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine found no abuses by Alexander Schinalski.
