The Biography of Mikhail Sirota
Date of Birth: 17.07.1956
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Chernihiv in a family of education workers.
In 1980, he graduated from the Chernihiv Institute of Engineering and Technology (now a university) with a degree in 'Industrial and Civil Engineering'.
Career. 1976-1979 - Leading technician in the research sector of the Chernihiv branch of the Kyiv Institute of Engineering and Construction (KISI).
1979-1980 - Engineer at the Chernihiv branch of KISI.
1982-1985 - PhD student at KISI.
1986-1994 - Assistant at the Department of General Technical Disciplines, lecturer at the Department of Applied Mechanics, Dean of the Faculty for the Education of Foreign Citizens, Vice-Rector for Educational Work at the Chernihiv Engineering and Technology Institute.
Political Career. 1994-1998 and 1998-2002 - Member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the II-III convocations. In the Ukrainian Parliament of the II convocation, he headed the deputy groups Center and Constitutional Center, the faction of the Professional Party of Ukraine. He was the chairman of the parliamentary committee for the revision of the draft of the Ukrainian Constitution.
At the time of his election in 1998 to the Parliament of the III convocation, he was a member of the People's Party of Ukraine. In 1999, he founded with a group of like-minded individuals and led the Professional Party of Ukraine. In 2004, he was re-elected as the head of the PPP.
Since November 2007, he has been a member of the Ukrainian Parliament of the VI convocation and the first deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Committee. Member of the faction of the Litvin Block. The leader of the block is Vladimir Litvin, the former head of the Administration of the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma, the former chairman of the Parliament.
Awards. Candidate of Technical Sciences (1986), Lecturer (1988), Honored Master of Law.
Awarded the Order of 'For Merit' III (1996) and II (1999) grades.
In 1997, Mikhail Sirota was awarded as Parliamentarian of the Year at the national competition 'Man of the Year'.
Family. Wife Irina Sirota (1955) - Economist. The couple has a son Dmitry (1979).
Hobbies. The politician was interested in philosophy, history, chess, fishing.
Tragic End. He died on August 25, 2008, in a car accident on the Kyiv-Odessa highway, about 80 km from the capital. According to the traffic police, there was a head-on collision between the Toyota Camry, in which the deputy and his wife were, and the Daewoo Lanos, driven by a resident of a village (born 1984). Both drivers died at the scene.
