Born in Krasnodar (Russia). In 1993 he entered the historical faculty of the South Sakhalin State Pedagogical Institute. In 1995, he stopped in the third year and moved to his grandmother in Ukraine.Career.

On July 3, 2008, Sobolev was appointed by Polish managers as the chief editor of the TRK Novyny television group Ukraine, owned by System Capital Management, the Donetsk billionaire Rinat Akhmetov. He held this position for only two hours, and on the same day the management of TRK Ukraine terminated his contract without explanation.
In August 2008, Sobolev founded the 'Bureau of Journalistic Investigations 'Svidomo'. The bureau began to conduct investigations for local newspapers, focusing on problems in each city that could only be solved by the central government, particularly in the fields of education and healthcare. At the time of Viktor Yanukovych's arrival in March 2010, the bureau's investigations had been published by 52 newspapers. In addition to subscriptions, the bureau's activities were funded by grants from the International Renaissance Foundation and the U-Media project.
In 2011, Yegor Sobolev created the civic organization 'Civic Service 'Svidomo'.
Political Career.
In July 2013, Yegor Sobolev announced the end of his journalistic career and transition to politics.During the Euromaidan, Sobolev was one of the activists. After the Euromaidan, by decision of the All-Ukrainian Union 'Maidan', on February 27, 2014, Sobolev was appointed head of the Lustration Committee of Ukraine, which, however, never received official status and operates as a civic organization.
In June 2014, together with Victoria Syumar and several civic activists, he created the party 'Vola' based on the civil movement.
In the fall of 2014, during the early elections, he was elected to the Verkhovna Rada on the lists of the Samopomich Union (No. 13). He was the deputy head of the Samopomich parliamentary faction (Oleg Berzyuk). He headed the VR committee on prevention and combating corruption.
On December 7, 2017, the Verkhovna Rada dismissed the deputy from Samopomich, Yegor Sobolev, from the position of head of the parliamentary anti-corruption committee.
